Employee Development Programs

Part-Time Training Instructor Development Program

Garanti BBVA develops its employees in a rich learning culture where they will be continuously equipped with a wide range of different methods according to current requirements and the rapidly changing competencies of the future, and encourages them to shape this culture. Our training programmes are not only shaped in line with the business needs, but also preferences of employees regarding their individual development needs in every field, including topics other than the business subjects they want to improve themselves. The training contents offered do not only focused on technical or professional development topics, but also vary in a wide range of topics.

In addition, as part of a culture of learning from each other, we prioritize the development of our employees and attach great importance to sharing their knowledge and experience with all employees. To serve this purpose, we have a internal trainer process. With the Internal Trainer Training Program, our employees who are experts in their fields  are selected in accordance with performance criteria and trained as internal trainers. Internal trainers included in this programme receive training and one-to-one mentoring on topics such as concepts related to designing and delivering trainings, dynamics of adult learning, presentation skills, material preparation and improve themselves.

With this practice, our internal trainers experience the satisfaction, belonging, meaning and purpose of contributing to the learning processes of others. In addition, they develop their networks within the company, increase their recognition with the ‘internal trainer’ role defined and in this process, they strengthen our company's corporate culture of learning from each other. As Garanti BBVA, we take advantage of the tailor-made the trainings provided through our internal trainers and thus enable the transfer of experiences as well as knowledge.

In 2023, 90 employees participated in the Part Time Trainer Training Programme and the number of active trainers increased to 353, contributing to the sustainability of corporate knowledge. This program enables us to create cost savings in the bank by strengthening the culture of learning from each other, supporting the personal development of trainers and conducting trainings with our internal trainers instead of outsourcing them. In 2023, 2,072 trainings were provided by part-time trainers, and according to approximate calculations, TL 26.2 million was saved in external trainer costs as a result of this program. % of FTEs participating in the program is %81 in 2023

Data Science Development Programs

For Garanti BBVA, part of a global financial group that offers a wide range of products and services to customers all over the world, digitalization is a priority issue focused on by both internal and external stakeholders. For this reason, technology is not only an integral part of the decision-making mechanism that supports process efficiencies and moves the bank forward, but it is also used as a factor that makes it possible to make quick decisions and establish strong communication from top to bottom within the bank.

Thanks to this technology approach, the Bank aims to better adapt to the new business models offered by the ever-digitalizing world and to offer a better customer experience to its customers by transforming its Big Data infrastructure investments into business intelligence solutions and open application platforms.

In line with this goal, Garanti BBVA Data and Technology, which always realizes transformation projects that shape the sector, implemented the “Data Transcendence” project, a data-based transformation within its strategic priority. The aim of this transformation project;

  • To position data at the center of all decision-making processes,
  • Use data as an effective resource for all process, product, service design and communication with customers

Data Science Development Programs aim to develop data analysis competencies that will enable employees to generate value from data.

The Data Scientist Program is given specifically to employees who are labeled as Data Scientists in the group and who have gained advanced data processing and data visualization competencies through specified trainings. The program consists of 3 modules: beginner, intermediate and advanced level. The beginner level is 8 days, the intermediate level is 7 days and the advanced level is 9 days. Within the scope of these modules, they extract meaning, insights and predictions from structured and unstructured data using scientific methods, process algorithms and systems such as advanced statistical and mathematical methods at different levels. The program consists of Statistics, Machine Learning, Programming and Python trainings.

The 5 categories that should be included in Data Scientist Training Programs are Capture (data collection, data entry, signal acquisition, data extraction), Preserve (data warehouse, data cleaning, data preparation, data processing, data architecture) Process (data mining, clustering/classification, data modeling, data summarization) and Analyze. (exploratory/confirmatory, predictive analysis, regression, text mining, qualitative analysis).

140 Data Scientists were trained in beginner, intermediate and advanced data scientist programs. In 2023, new machine learning and deep learning models were integrated into Garanti BBVA systems in 75 projects. “No-code/Low-code” platform “Data Science Suite” functions were enriched in terms of data preparation (“Data Flow”) and algorithm diversity. With this application, value was created with a total of 68 projects commissioned as of 2023, and the time for projects to be put into production was accelerated by three months. In order to promote a data-driven decision-making culture, more than 60 in-house trainings were provided for employees in areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, chatbot and data modeling, contributing to the development of 2200 participants. In order to support artificial intelligence and machine learning competence in society, 100 students were trained in this field with the Computational Data Science course offered for credit at Istanbul Technical University as of 2021. In 2023, the number of interactions with UGİ Smart Assistant reached 61.7 million. % of FTEs participating in the program is %100 in 2023
